Purple Queen is a perennial groundcover well known for its purple foliage which when massed can be an eyestopping splash of color in tropical landscapes. Other than annual plantings there are few other groundcovers that can create such a dense mass of hot color.
It's often seen in median plantings where the purple color provides a nice contrast with the grays of the street. Its low height and drought tolerance are also virtues which can be used to advantage. However, maintenance personnel often find it difficult to keep it free of weeds which are so visible when surrounded by its purple foliage.
Plant Purple Queen in any well drained soil. Do not overwater it. Plant it with a weed control mat for best results.
