Silver Queen Chinese Evergreens are popular houseplants throughout the USA, but in Florida they can be grown outdoors or in atriums when planted in the proper environment. Few plants can brighten up a spot of deep shade like Chinese Evergreen. The silvery lance-like tropical foliage of Chinese evergreen can create a groundcover up to about 2' in height in shady spots in protected locations.
Plant Silver Queen Chinese Evergreen in protected locations with fertile, nematode-free soil. Be careful to provide regular irrigation. Chinese evergreens do well in moist soil which is allowed to dry slightly before the next watering.
