6'- 7' height, 15 gallon pot, tree form - Hibiscus rosa-sinensis
Hibiscus is the state flower of Hawaii. The flowers are recognized as a sign of tropical lands and in Florida have been fixtures in the landscape for decades. There are numerous species and cultivars that have flowers in nearly every color except a true blue. They can be grown outdoors in Florida in nearly all of the southern half of the peninsula.
Just as there are numerous flower types, hibiscus can be trained to a variety of forms from small trees to hedges. Some varieties have an arching form that makes a good specimen plant. Others can be clipped into hedges after flowering.
