The luminous yellow flowers of these trees appear to catch the light and hold it giving the canopy a shimmering liquid yellow golden appearance. The fern like foliage adds to the tropical appearance of the trees. Yellow Poincianas flower in late spring through the summer to autumn and their flowering lasts longer than Royal Poinciana.
Yellow Poincianas can be grown in full sun on nearly any well drained soil south of Lake Okeechobee. This tree is fast growing which is a blessing and a curse. The fast growth is a blessing because the beauty of the tree can be appreciated quickly and a curse because the tree is susceptible to wind damage.
