8'-12' height, 25 gallon pot - Calophyllum brasiliense
Calophyllum or Brazilian Beautyleaf grows to a height of about 40 feet. The leathery, dark green, glossy leaves form a dense canopy. The beauty of the leaves and canopy is responsible for one of the names of this tree, Brazilian Beautyleaf. The fruit is perfectly round, yellowish green in color and accents the glossy green foliage.
The tree grows in a wide range of soils and environments, in areas south of Palm Beach County and further north along the coast. Salt tolerance is good and it is often used for seaside planting. It's adaptability makes Brazilian Beautyleaf an excellent parking lot or street tree, but be careful to consider the golf ball sized fruit when planting it.
