There are many varieties of Caladiums and they come in every color except blue. All varieties grow in shade and some can grow in heavy shade. There are newer varieties with narrow leaves that can take full sun or light shade. The tubers of this plant can be planted in very shallow soil (3" - 4"). This makes them one of the few groundcovers that can be planted amongst the roots of large existing trees.
