Firebush is native to South Florida and it is a favorite of butterflies and birds including hummingbirds. The red flowers come in what appears to be a constant parade whenever the weather is warm.
Firebush grows best in full sun in an irrigated landscape. The plant is sensitive to frost, but regrows from the roots quite rapidly. Firebush can tolerate a wide range of soils including alkaline soils. Little care is needed when used in natural plantings.
