These shrubs are unexcelled for their variety of leaf color and shape. Some have broad leaves while others have ribbon like straps.
Available varieties include: broad yellow leaves, narrow leaves with yellow margins and ribs, broad yellow, red-blotched leaves, green leaves spotted yellow, twisted yellow leaves with red midrib, broad leaves, irregularly blotched red and green spirally-twisted leaves, narrow wavy margined leaves variegated with yellow and red petiole.
The older varieties tend to be better in the landscape. Plant in full sun for best color, but light shade is acceptable for most varieties. A few varieties have been developed which can stand deeper shade. Plant in well-drained soil.
