10' height - Dysis lastelliana
Teddy Bear Palm is named for its strikingly beautiful crownshaft, which is covered in a velvety rusty fur that resembles the fur of a Teddy Bear. The light colored sometimes near white trunks accented by regular green rings match the beauty of the crownshaft. All of this beauty is topped by the large stiff feather-like leaves, which emerge from the trunk in a starburst of bright green foliage. Growing to about 30’ when mature, the strong geometric form of this palm lends itself to architectural settings with strong lines. Look for Teddy Bear Palm to be used more often.
Teddy Bear Palm may be grown south of Palm Beach County and further north along the coast, but well back from salt air. Grow it in full sun or part shade in a wide range of soils. It is highly drought tolerant when established, but for best results grow it in irrigated, well drained, and well maintained landscapes.
Delivery is free in Broward, Dade, and southern Palm Beach counties.
