10' - 12' height, 25 gal. pot, contact us for larger sizes. - Conocarpus erectus
Our native Green Buttonwood is now a popular evergreen landscape tree for commercial landscapes. It's also used as a tall screen and sometimes as a tall hedge. The reason for this is that it can withstand nearly all of the difficult conditions that the urban environment can throw at plants. It makes a tough tree in a parking lot or as a street tree. Due to its small to medium size it is quite useful in small residential sites. It's also available at relatively large size at a reasonable cost. All these virtues and its relatively rapid growth make it a choice for those who want a relatively problem free tree, but are not so concerned about heart stopping appearance.
In its native habitat Buttonwood is often found near the seashore and tidal estuaries. Hence, it's ideal for seaside plantings and is tolerant of full sun, light shade, sandy soils, rocky soils, alkaline soils, and brackish salty water. We have planted Green Buttonwood in wetland plantings where they are periodically flooded and in interstate highway plantings where no irrigation is supplied after planting. They thrive in either case.
Plant them anywhere south of Palm Beach County and further north along the coast.
Delivery is included in Broward and Miami-Dade Counties.
