Our native Satinleaf obtains its name from the glossy green leaves whose undersides are a velvety coppery cinnamon color. When the leaves blow in the wind the leaves appear to change color from shining olive green to coppery cinnamon. This is one of the select trees which should be grown more often in Florida
Satinleaf may be grown in full sun or partial shade in fertilized, well-drained and irrigated landscapes south of Palm Beach County and further north along the coast. It can be grown in unirrigated landscapes provided that they have fertile soil and a source of water. Satinleaf is moderately salt tolerant.
