3 gallon pot, 24" - 30" height - Podocarpus macrophyllus
Yew Pine is also called Japanese Yew, Chinese Podocarpus or more commonly, simply Podocarpus. This species has been called the finest hedge in Florida and it is seen as a clipped hedge or commonly as column or topiary. The Hedge or clipped column has a formal, dark green, rough texture that complements masonry of all types. The slow growing dense hedge or topiary requires little maintenance and may be grown nearly anywhere in Florida.
Yew Pine or Podocarpus is not so commonly seen as a small to medium sized tree. This tropical conifer grows to a height of 25' or more and is highly adapted to the tight spaces and restricted rooting area found in urban areas. Its growth is upright rather than spreading. It should be used as a tree more often.
Yew Pine grows best in full sun, but tolerates shade and is excellent on the north side of a building. Plant it in a wide range of soils and landscape conditions except wet soils.
Delivery is free in Broward, Dade, and southern Palm Beach counties.
